We started this summer with another milestone, as after nearly four years, we have handed over the new office building of OTP Bank, the M12 – we have already reported on this before.
The headquarters on Madarász Street in the 13th district of Budapest serves as the workplace for more than three thousand employees. It was built on seven floors, with three-floor underground garages, spreading over no less than 84 thousand square metres. All this has also led to challenges: because of the narrow interiors and the underground garages under the slab, materials and oversized shipments had to be processed in a different way, and the shading technique of the building also had to be constructed differently. For this reason, the work areas have been fully utilized, for example by using our tower crane.
However, we always pay great attention to environmental awareness in our designs and implementations, and we have done so in this case as well. In addition to our modern application in building engineering and electrical systems, 200 trees and thousands of plants have been planted (both indoors and outdoors). This further emphasizes the proximity to nature.
Following the ceremonial handover, here we are presenting the complete construction of the glass roofs of the OTP M12 Office Building in the atrium and the inner courtyard by numbers in detail.
- A large-span curved steel structure was made to cover the atriums. Of course, taking into account the required fire protection aspects and the construction of the entire glass structure.
- The glass roof of the atrium itself has an area of 53.5 metres by 23.4 metres. The aesthetic facade in the inner courtyard, reminiscent of a “small pyramid”, has an area of 8.1 metres by 8.1 metres. This corresponds to a glass area of 1217.6 square metres.
- In terms of the final data, no less than 44,6 tonnes of steel were installed in the support structure of the atrium.
- In addition to these, two innovative solutions have expanded our range of tasks. Pillars with a height of 5.2 metres each were designed and also constructed. The covers are circular and made of a semi-cylinder shell with concealed fixings. They provide a secure support for an LED wall.
